At the meeting, the governor Alaqel praised the Union Cement Company in Bates as the first manufacturer company of cement in Abyan governorate and its contribution to improve the level of the governorate income and creating opportunities for many labor, especially young people.

He stressed that the leadership of the local authority in the governorate will be a great help to various national, Arab and international investments, pointing out the distinctive character of Abyan Governorate as an agricultural, fish and industrial governorate and containing many minerals in the its interior land.

From his part, the Executive Officer of Union Cement Company said that the plant was established in the framework of the development and strengthening of the industrial process in the governorate, pointing out that the plant, despite the circumstances experienced during the last period because of the war, but it extremely resumes the production, which will start during the first quarter of this year, of one million ton per year.

He stressed the importance of enhancing the security aspects effectively so as to contribute to increase the investment opportunities in this important region, noting that the plant provided 450 jobs and can be increased in the future.

The meeting was attended by the General Secretary of the Local Council Mr. Nasser Abdullah Al Fadhli, the Deputy Assistant Undersecretary Mr. Mohammed Nasser Al Jahma, the Director General of the General Security Brigadier General Omar Ali Abdullah, Commander of Major General 119 Brigadier General Faisal Rajab and Head of Military Intelligence Col. Mohammad Makreh.
